The other Mike and i were chatting about getting a club t-shirt made up. It would be a simple white t-shirt with the letter DHBC on the front in red and that’s it.
I thought this was a good idea and have done made a mock up of it. i have also looked at costing and it would be possible to get it made for about $25 a shirt in
plain white with 1 colour screen or embroidering.

The shirt would be like a training (rollers) and before and after race kind of thing. It would made of breathable
mesh kind of material which is 50% poly and 50% cool dry mix.

Let me know what you think about the idea and any design options....

I have added in a poll for the three different options, all will have the website DHBC.org.au printed on the back shoulders. Please choose one of the above so we can go forward.

here are the three options in picture format.

I think it would be much better in red with white writing. I notice occasionally we get a cheer squad at track events (friends and partners of the riders) who all try and dress in red. This T-shirt could be a good alternative. Also - some people that ride Saturday slowies that don't want to invest in a jersey may think this isn't a bad start.

Just a thought
would red with white writing be more appropriate/recognisable as DHBC and for spectator use also?

(Edit)
Sorry got called away whilst posting my reply and Jo got in first

This is a very good idea, and something I've been thinking about for a while now. Good initiative Michael. It's also very good advertising for the club, when walking around off the bike. For that reason I think it needs the website address to be displayed prominantly - probably across the back, and maybe a slogan. As a club we want to keep growing, and this is a good way to reach new people.

Here is the idea I've been toying with... It's a design that I've seen in at least 6 different places, so there is no copyright issue. The shirt can even be obtained for $10 USD off Ebay.

I'm all for black or white writing on red t-shirt with DHBC in one block like on the jerseys on the front and DHBC + website address on the back - although I do like that graphic Toff - maybe we can fit it all on?. Also would prefer good old cotton t-shirt rather than a 50% poly and 50% cool dry mix as its more comfortable and like Toff I see its main use as a general use shirt, rather than anything I'd ride or train in - especially as my role at the track is support crew / cheer squad only!

BTW love the slowies slogan

Dunno if it is possible to arrange via BNSW, but if our annual membership went up a few $$ we could get a shirt each year ...
(Okay, I'm shutting up now before this turns into another monster thread like the new jerseys epic)

the only prob with this being a slowies shirt is that theres no pockets :S
we may need to wait for a cheap option cycoling shirt for slowies.

i agree and i think this shirt should be a kick around kind of thing like stuart suggests.

i will do up a few options and a poll soon so people can choose a design.

Great idea! It will surely be an inner west fashion item. It might even get into the Sunday papers - the section where they photograph people in interesting clothes. So, make it eye-catching!

I reckon we could make them ourselves & then it would be cheaper & easier to change the design. It's a good wet sunday afternoon task. I"ve tried ringing my mate but can't get through. It's pretty basic from what I"ve seen. You just cut the template out of cardboard or plastic or something, buy the paint, stretch the shirt out and paint it on. It would be much more complex to make a multi layer, colour design but we probably won't ever need one.

We just need to find out the cost and type of paint and t-shirts and work out if its cheaper than getting them made which no doubt it would be....

Can we have ten more designs and a request for a long sleeve variant? Then we can get to 17 screens like the jersey order thread :?

I don't like any of them that much and still think that we should have Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club on the shirt, like on the club jersey, white (or black) on red? DHBC is not informative enough and I'd love the website address on the back ....

Will this be a club sanctioned gear or private order?

I prefer minimal text as it's better for casual wear.

I gotta agree with that. If we are to promote the club, we need more than just four letters that could stand for anything ... such as the Druids Hill Baptist Church at www.dhbc.org

the reason for minimal text is the price increases the the more you need screened. The design will stay with the four letters and the Web address on the back and thats all it will be.

the design will be the red shirt with the white letters in the circle, it will also have the web address printed across the back.

did anything ever come of this BTW as the last post was in May 2009? because .....

Following on from discussions with club members at new years day drinks (amazing I remember really), I've got some quotes for red cotton t-shirts with the DHBC logo and full name on the front and DHBC logo and web address on the back for <$20 each done with digital. Think the DHBC jersey design logo and full caps lettering. This is for a run of 30-40 shirts. We could also add a cheer-squad line of some sort if desired.

I do however need artwork - Mr Chidgey what SW do you use to create those great designs?

Anyway, I wont start another thread quite yet but if people think this is good idea, please respond.

If there's enough demand we could also some "You are passing another Saturday slowie" ones as well. There's no minimum number at most of these places now.

Just to put my 2 cents worth in (I feel I can, having kept quit on the jerseys issue), I'd quite like to see the shirt with DHBC in the 4 circles across the chest. White on red. Just like on the jerseys, but without all the other stuff. Web on the back is good of course.

But I take Chidgey's point on additional cost.

The quotes I have, as pointed out in my post, are for the full DHBC Logo (DHBC inside circles) and wording i.e. DULWICH HILL BICYCLE CLUB in all caps on the front (juts like our jerseys) and the DHBC logo and website on the back for < $20. They won't be the world's greatest quality I wouldn't expect but I was trying to keep the cost under $30 each.

Sorry Jess but it'll be a standard type of t-shirt i.e. men's I expect but I will ask.

Just a thought - if we wanted to go with just a front logo design (perhaps we would need to rethink the design), you can upload artwork to a t-shirt manufacturing website such as www.redbubble.com and people can buy single shirts (in whatever style they like - including girls cuts, long sleeve etc). I buy lots of t-shirts from there, and they are good quality. The price is usually just over $30 per t-shirt, then shipping on top of that but if you buy 3 shipping is free.

OK - the company I am currently in contact with (Tee Junction in Melbourne) has mens and womens cut t-shirts. They also do kids sizes.

I'll keep you posted on $ etc as I'm not sure they understood that I wanted the design on both the front and the back.
