I would think that if run under the uci, entry would have to be through cycling nsw, which is the case with the cronulla crits. However, there's no 40km cronulla crit listed, so the pro races may be invitation only, rather than open events.

I don't really like the Coogee or Gosford courses, but then Crits don't really suit me the best.

This is fantastic news. I've seen International level crits in the centre of melbourne and adelaide and they completely transformed the city and generated a great cycling buzz. Something very much missing in Sydney. I'm still not sure if Coogee is the right place. Why not George St and Hyde Park? But Still good all the same!

Back in the days of the Commonwealth Bank Cycle Classic, you could go down to Darling Harbour, near where the IMAX now is, and watch the annual criterium of pros from all over the world. Bring that back!

I hear the Coogee criterium today turned out to be a carnage due to water on the road.

There were maybe three 'crashes' at the top turn, and two at the bottom. It was a pretty cool event, a lot of people just walking past were asking my two friends and I (obvious cyclists due to our attire) questions and seemed genuinely interested. I think a Porsche guy ended up winning, obviously due to good karma gained by lending me a pump earlier in the day.

Which grade and what is the ride report?

I had the top grade on TV, was great viewing.

Pretty sure I saw glimpses of Chubbsy hanging on to the tail of the bunch whilst watching Sunday's TV coverage. Caught glimpses of someone in a red shirt and black knicks quite near the back. After 20 mins he seemed to have been spat. The speed would have been awesome with the calibre of some of the riders in that bunch!

Chubbsy was in "B grade". Probably saw a drapac rider.

The speed they averaged for the length of the race was intense, especially considering Coogee was corner/sprint, followed by corner/sprint. Di2 shifts sound so violent and Zipps going past at 45km/h sound good enough for me to sell my car to get some.

Were there many riding Di2s?

Last year racing Masters 1-4 we hit 50kph on the back straight almost every lap, so I suspect they were going quicker than 45kph

From what I could see a few people had Di2, and the majority sram red.
