This is a great initiative and all DHBCers with the time on a Sunday should get along, plus it will be fun! We need to show news roads minister Duncan Gay that the cycleways are used, are useful and need to be extended. Support cycling safety for all.

If you haven't seen Gay's attitude, this beat up by Channel Seven's tabloid news show is a good example of his thinking:

BTW Adrian , took the liberty of fixing the link in your post ... hope that's OK?

If your racing in the morning, there's still time for a coffee, get changed and roll over to Surry Hills to join in the fun.
There's stacks of things to see and do including vintage bike displays, cycling fashion stalls, food, dj's and giveaways. Bring your friends, family and your bikes

I see on FB that besides Adrian, Geoff S, Eleri & Jess are going - so people, do we want to ride out together? I was planing on basically doing the Sat Slowies route to get to Bourke St and then turn left and see what I find? leaving Marrickville at around 10:45. What's your plans? I know that Simon S is going too but with the kid(s) so riding pace a little slow for me ...

How about some lunch? Emmilou Tapas Bar is joining in the action this Sunday as your official lunch destination. We have a tasting plate and glass of wine lunch special for just $25. Looking forward to seeing you here, reservations are accepted http://www.emmilou.com.au/ There's also Danks St Depot but I expect it will be packed. Pity Bodega's not open Sundays.

I went a look. Saw a whole lot of families with kids on the bike path, but not much else. I think the legendary Paddy was around fixing people's bikes for free, and the new Deus shop had free coffees going - those were possibly the highlights. Those and the weather!

I couldn't take my bike there but walked on the pavement with kids on scooters from Danks St to Wimbo Park in time to catch Clover's speech - she mentioned that the Bourke St School had a 'bike bus' for their students!
Cycleways may not be for everyone, but they certainly make cycling more accessible and safer for others - Personally I love the Harbour Bridge - Kent St Cycleways - Anzac Bridge for removing car related stress when I go through the city.
Anyway, it was a great event and the safety of the separated Bourke St cycleway had me thinking of organising a day out from Centennial Park.
