Douglas is pleased to advise that his better half (Endeavour Cycles - Gymea) has delivered a bouncing mid life crisis bike named "Sworks". "Sworks" weighs a nice 7kgs. Both father and "Sworks" doing well. Sworks is resting comfortably in bed with me. The Bride now lives in the kids room.

Chain rings: Mid compact chainrings 36/52
Gruppo: Full Ultegra Di2 Electronic Shifting - VERY COOL!
Wheels Set: (Currently loan wheels Dura Ace 7850 C24 cl) Mavic Krysium SL's (on the Boat somewhere delivery in a week and a half)
Tyres: Presently shod in Specialized Armadillos (not so sure about these will probably change to GP4000s)

Most compact cranksets have a 110 BCD. You can then purchase 110 BCD chain rings in 38/52. Joanne's been running them for ages on her 'compact' SRAM Red cranks. Then, when you're off to the Alpine Classic or some other festival of uphill pain, you can put the 34/50 set on. Perfect! (may need a different chain - I'm sure somebody more bike mechanics savvy will assist).

Richard, my Focus has a compact crank set (110 pcd). The rings are 53, 39. So you can certainly get whatever rings you want

For the Alpine 250 I would love either a 52/30!!

One for going down really fast / the other for endlessly going up, up up

I doubt a front derailleur could ever do a 22 single jump

Can you swap out the 50 on a 50/34 compact and make it a 52/34? Is this too big a jump for the FD?

Alternatively for a ride like the Alpine 250 could you swap out the 34 to make a 50/30?

I am riding 6600 series Ultegra
