I typically do nothing special on NYE, so I am up for a ride on Tuesday (1/1/08) next week.

I was thinking of something north. Originally Galston/Berowra/Bobbin, but it looks like some of you did that yesterday.

Other options include something like West Head or I am open to other suggestions. I am happy to do the 3 gorges if there is enough interest.

Any idea what the expected time of return would roughly be for a northbound ride?

It would depend on how much we stop. I would imagine that a good get away time would be about 6am at the latest, (preferably earlier). West head is about a 110km trip, so I would expect that we could return by 10am if you are prepared to push.

I wouldn't imagine that we would be much later than 11am though.

Happy New Year!
I'm in for whatever ride you prefer. The West Head ride is quite exposed while the gorges route includes more shady bits. On the gorges ride you get a break on the ferry in Berowra Waters; on the other one it's worth to stop at West Head for the remakable views.

OK, from what I understand there was a ride planned on Boxing Day for Galston/Berowra/Bobbin (GBB), this is why I proposed West Head.

So, as Eugen pointed out, GBB is a shadier route, and as long as the ferry is running, it is an enjoyable ride. So...

Lets do it backwards. Bobbin Head, Berowra Waters, Galston Gorge. Leaving at 6am from the 7-11 on Stanmore Rd (near Liberty Street). We will ride through Balmain, Drummoyne and up Burns Bay Road, expecting to make it there by about 6:30am.

Overall Distance is about 110km, so expect about 4 hours or so riding time, I would hope that we are back in Enmore by about 11am at the latest, but depending on several factors, this could be longer.

Just a reminder (for those who have done a RNP ride with me recently).

When I say 6am, I mean 6am...

Also, I have invited some of the Renegade Riders as well, I haven't heard anything back, but we will be stopping at Renegade and rolling out from there at 6:40am.

For those who did this ride (Adrian and Eugene), here is the event that we saw all of the runners doing at the Berowra Ferry

All up it was a good fun ride, pretty good pace. We picked up two riders at Renegade, so there was 5 of us in total. Eugene gave me a good run for my money on the three climbs, and he managed to get me to crack on the final climb of the day.

Sounded like great fun. It would have been worth it just to watch you two fight for that KOM title. :D

Could barely get up this morning after going into the city to watch the fireworks. Did manage a short ride late morning to test out the rebuild.
