Tour De France Nights at Marrickville Road Cafe

Ok. Based on the success of the Giro night, Sasha would like to schedule some TDF nights.

Which would be the nights, based on what type of stage that day?

Also, one option he would like are cycling DVDs also on the big screen prior to each stage event. Anyone got any good DVDs which will get the atmosphere going? Maybe Stuey's win in the Paris - Roubaix or something like that?

I'm keen. Idea of some pre coverage cycling is a good idea. Stages 3 and 18 look the best watching but all nites will be good

Maybe stage 8, the 6th July? Climbs, including the Ax 3 Domaines seem like good viewing.

Works for me. Anyone chatting with the cafe?

Meanwhile I'm having to follow the TdF via SBS Tour Tracker. The Greek Government has pulled the National Broadcasting Agency! No news or culture in times of economic crises it seems. Or sport!

I spoke to Sasha just now. Its too late to pull something off for this Saturday.

What I need are one to two suggested dates in advance. They could be weeknights if its a big stage.

Please list the one or two big nights by stages below, and I will speak with Sasha.

Stage 15 and 18, 19 & 20 look good

Admittedly I'll be in Fiji for stage 15 and arrive back on day of 18, so for selfish reasons I hope it's 19 or 20. 18 looks best but that's a Thursday

I'd have to say a Thursday would be perfect for me - but I'm not working on
Friday

I think stages 18 & 19 will be great - keen to enjoy one or both nights at MRC :D

My votes are for Stage 8 on the 6th and Stage 20 on the 20th. Both mountaintop finishes and both on a Saturday!

As Geoff has advised, MRC can't do the 6th. If anyone is interested in watching it with a bunch, ParkBikes are going to be showing it at SOP. They advertised it on FB.

I'm sitting in a bar on the beach on Thassos, surrounded by some very happy Brits who are mocking me on behalf of the Lions, watching La Tour! Bring on the Pyranees! I'm trying to educate the drunken poms about the joys of cycling, and convince them if they really want to see hard men then to look at the screen. Luckily I have a fellow enthusiast in the form if Howard otherwise we'd be watching Wimbledon repeats!

Spoke to Sasha. He will confirm up to 2 nights. Likely to be 20th and one night of 18th or 19th. TBA
