Yes ... I know! The prospect of buying bike accessories at ALDI does sound utterly nutty (says he, cursing the lousy quality of Kathmandu accessories).
But what the heck! Maybe there's some good buying to be had there as of next Thursday. Check out the specials here: http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/offers_20090219.htm

I don't think you can do better than bib shorts for $25, or long finger gloves for winter at $10.

...And a long sleeve jacket that's waterproof to 2,000 metres! - Perfect for commuting in Sydney, or exploring the upper third of the Mariana Trench!

Could become baggy bibs after a few washes. ;)

The knicks, jerseys and gloves all look shocking. The socks are just socks.

I went to Aldi yesterday and bought a pair of bibknicks, gloves and socks.

As you say Simon, socks are just socks, but for $10 the full finger gloves are cheap, even if they are made for that price point. After last winter, I know they will be a godsend!

Now onto knicks. Marrickville store was out of all sizes except L and XL when I went there yesterday afternoon around 5. I bought a L, only to discover that it was a "Ladies L" when I got home and tried them on. There was much laughter from the other half when she caught sight of me wearing knicks that were too long in the legs, too short in the torso, and with a chamois that was placed too far back, causing my "boys" to do a bunched up Shirvo in front.

I took the Ladies L pair back this morning and bought a Mens M instead. Haven't tried them on, but they should be okay. The sizing is wrong on all the ones I've seen. The Large in the shops would fit anyone 2.5 metres or taller. Even the Ladies L I bought was way too long for me. - Just hope the dodgy flat chamois isn't as bad as it looks.

Overall, seems like you get what you pay for. Not ideal for hardcore riders, but I'm not complaining about my new commuter pants!

I bought the in-frame bag for $8 and it caused no hassles during a 1-hour static trainer session this morning. I think it could be just the thing for storing a phone and wallet, without either getting all nasty and sweaty in a jersey pocket.
I'll give it a go as an iPhone holder tomorrow at slowies for yet another GPS experiment. (Last time the iphone battery lasted about 50 minutes of GPS use :-()

Depends on the app you run, there may be a power saving function available eg. Screen lights off.
