This week we're going to start our new Thursday evening rollers session at Canterbury Velodrome. Venue is the downstairs area where we do our wet nights training. Activities will be roller/trainer sprint sessions.

Door opens 6:45pm
Starts 7pm to 7:15pm warmup
aprox 1/2 hour sprint sessions.
Finish 8pm

Cost - free if you bring your own rollers or trainer / $3 to hire equipment.

This event is Roadie friendly & you could use a road bike for training. We'll also give you free rollers lessons....

This week will be low key to start with (16th August) & won't be on the week after (23 August) as it will be our presentation night. Then regular after that.

In the words of our great track coach Brad Cox before every roller session "prepare to die earthlings"... :P

Hey Lindsay I was thinking after you mentioned it, Ranwick actually trains on the velodrome thursday night, they do a 100 lapper. So I don't know if this will affect our plans?

I spoke to Canterbury Council for a booking and they said Randwick had the track booked, that as long as Randwick are wiling to have us there the council was happy & it would be no charge to us. I then spoke to Bucko & he was very happy for us to be there & perhaps they could train with us on wet nights.

As for us joining in with their activities, if you want to no problems, you'd have to work it out with them.

I'm not really interested in a hundred lapper, Thursday is speed work night & it has been working for me well... I don't think Randwick would mind too much if we joined in though...

Trainer hire, is mag turbo...

Simon then we would require a turbo tax... unless you allow us to hook it up to a generator to power the lights...

So if I'm cleared at RPA Thursday morning, I can hire the mag turbo Thursday night?

I'm sorry guys, but I think I'll pass on this one, at least tonight.

Recent feedback from loved ones suggests I'm pushing total ride time commitments to near max, at least in the current climate (i.e. wait till they acclimatise, then increase ride time?). I'm riding to work at least on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the desperate hope that I'll get fitter so as not to die somewhere between Grafton and Inverell. Generally I don't get home till 7:30 anyway, and am more than ready for dinner.

'd love to come down tonight as I finally picked up my new apollo record about two hours ago... but I've got this damn flu that I can't shake.

Hope to be at the track on monday.

btw: Lindsay, is there going to be room in the storeroom for another track bike? Its getting a little crowded in there.

Adrian - No problems we can always squeeze another in...

As for last night it went very well for our first night. We had 6 riders, so a good group. We all did heart rates except Simon who did sprints. Louie was smokin', for real with a blow out on his rear tyre on the last sprint which would have done the SummerNats proud, Simon was heading out the door on his trainer until he switched to rollers, Mike did a solid session one handed & I left behind my usual puddle of sweat.

There won't be a session next week because of Presentation Night but week after it'll be regular weekly from then on.
