February: National Penny Farthing Championships. Possible omnium.

March (TBA likely 05/03/2011): Legs of Steel - omnium. Riders are only permitted to ride a steel framed bike. No carbon fibre or aluminium will be permited. Racing will be in the format of a traditional omium setup, flying 200m TT, scratch race (madison), individual pusuit, points race (madison) & a kilo but with an emphasis on team events, ie madisons.

April (09/04/2011 TBC): Lionel Cox memorial sprint derby - omnium. Racing will commence with a flying 200m TT to rank riders from fastest to slowest. Riders will then be put up against other riders of a similar speed in a tournament styled mactch sprint (1 on 1) competition. Overall winner will be crowned sprinter of the year.

May: (likely 14/05/2011): 50km individual/teams points race - omnium. the race will be over a gruelling 150 laps of tempe velodrome with 16 sprints. sprints will attract points for first four places, 5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 1 for 4th. However unlike an olympic style points race riders who lap the field will instantly lead the race on distance as laps will be counted as a lead rather than the usual 20 points being given, just as in a madison. The other difference being that unlike a normal points race team entry will be accepted so pairs or groups of 3 may enter and ride as though in a madison, giving everybody the chance to have a go.

June (likely 11/6/2011): International Keirin - omnium. Just as a year ago each rider will be required to select a country to ride for. This may be a country which they have a traditional tie to or it may simply be the country they wish they were born in. They will then need to find riding clothes to represent this country and cook a native dish to bring along and share. The racing will be normal track racing finishing with an international keirin to see which nation will reign for 2011.

July (likely 16/07/2011): 81 inch omnium. All rider must ride on a gear no more than 81 inches or in teeth 48 tooth front chain ring and 16 tooth rear cog. This event is there to test who has the best leg speed for 2011. Style of racing TBA.

August: One hour omnium challenge. Riders should aim to complete a full omnium (flying 200ms, 10km scratch race, 3km pursuit, 20km points race and 1km TT) in less than 60 minutes. To do this events will have to run back to back with more than one rider on the track at a time during the time trials and riders must average over 34kms an hour. No champion will be crowned but all riders who can complete the overal goal will be a champion!!!!

Prior to the one hour omnium challenge racing will be held for those who wish for a less intense experience! So riders of all levels are encouraged to come!!!!

September: DHBC Club Madison Championships. After the success of the points race it is time for the second club championship of the year after the kilo. This round will be a 50km event, made up of 150 laps of Tempe Velodrome. There will be 15 sprints, with points allocated as 5 points for 1st, 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd and 1 point for fourth. As per Olympic rules laps of the field will count towards distance, not points so when a team laps the field they will go one lap up and instantly lead the race regardless of point score.

October: Postponed till 10/11/2011Halloween; night under lights omnium. for this event racing will take place with no overhead lights and instead riders must bring their own to install on their bicycles. It is expected that this event will be fantastic for spectators as riders will also be given different coloured glow stick for identification!

November: 19/11/2011 Novemberfest motorised TT championships. Three events all motorised; flying lap, 4 km pursuit for men & a 3 km pursuit for women and a keirin. hold onto your hat this one will be fun!!!

December: TBA :

Boxing day omnium 26/12/2011: Traditionally this event marks the begginings of the first ever DHBC omnium & is the DHBC Kilo championships.

January: Omnium TBA probably 22/01/11 run by Tim L & Alex C

February: National Penny Farthing Championships. Possible omnium.

March: Legs of Steel - omnium.
I think the legs of steel Omnium should include Alloy....I don't have a steel frame :(? The masters state titles are on Mid March on a Saturday so hopefully we can have it so it does not clash with that :)

All looks pretty good though

Carbon forks, seat posts, stems, saddles, shoes, pedals, bars are all ok. Carbon wheels are subject to question on the day depending on whether or not any other wheels are available. I don't suspect anyone will have carbon cranks on their steel bike but that's ok if that's your thing.

As per the bikes. No-one really owns a steel frame of the current racers but there are plenty in the bike room down at the track. The rules will be that everyone will need to first borrow a steel bike but when we run out or if you ride a really obscure size then you can just race on your usual track bike.

Sounds like my Fuji may have its last outing on the track, looks like I can get away with carbon stem spacers.

With no 20 point lapping rule in the points race, isn't it going to turn into a time trail?

Sounds more like the 6 day madison point scoring. Laps trump points. Though i have a feeling they get a lap with every 50 or 100 points... but the multiple days also assist them in getting that many points.

The reason that I have elected the laps up rule rather than 20 point system is that it should put constant pressure on the sprinters to mark every single move and the enduros a fair chance of winning. I don't think that it will result in a time trial, though it could.

I also don't suspect there will be many riders riding solo, maybe 2-5. I think that it will be very challenging and that the teams will have a solid chance in the sprints and in lapping the field at any time, making it very difficult for the individuals to win the bike race. The question is what combination will amount to being the strongest. An individual, a team of 2, a team of 3 or even more?

Sounds great. Considering I like steel frames, low ratios and longer races, I'm pretty happy with the sound of that.
Also looking forward to getting back to the track next week.

As far as I know it is not on. Those who were delegated organisation are not able. Well I think Tim is dropping me & Jessica to the airport.

I was informed last night that I had indicated in this thread that it would be on but I was assuming it would be organised by now so I just removed my post.

Cheers Simon.

Proposed dates are up in the main post. There's only one great clash and that's with the masters road race, which there isn't anything much else available in that month.

Halloween omnium sounds great! To make it really scary, let's go down to tempe late one night, turn the lights off and run two concurrant A and B madisons, one going clockwise, the other anti-clockwise. Meanwhile, I will tell ghost stories in the stand.

Incorrect choice, stories will be more painful than the race :)

Looks like fun racing (Simon's idea, not mr Muscles...).
So Simon - will this be the Saturday prior or do you mean Monday night, the actual night of Halloween?

At the moment I'm flat out & am working Monday night, so it may not be for a while, though we could do Wednesday night. I'll have a look at the calender and see what dates do suite?

Not a problem, we can just keep an eye out for the date when it's announced. It would be a fun night and might make for some good photos too.
