In the month of September as part of the omnium calander it will be the DHBC Club Madison Championships.
After the success of the points race it is time for the second club championship of the year after the kilo. This round will be a 50km event, made up of 150 laps of Tempe Velodrome. There will be 15 sprints (every 10 laps), with points allocated as 5 points for 1st, 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd and 1 point for fourth. As per Olympic rules laps of the field will count towards distance, not points so when a team laps the field they will go one lap up and instantly lead the race regardless of point score.
Where: Canterbury Velodrome (Tempe)
When: 3/09/2011
What Time: 4pm points race, 5pm madison.
Distance: 50kms
Who can race: Anyone with a racing licence who is a member of DHBC.
Teams: As this is a championship event riders may choose their partner for this event and put their entry down in this forum before the day of the event. Teams must also record what jersey/colour of Jersey they will be wearing so that each team is individually distinguishable.
*** awaiting track booking & race sanctioning.

I like the sound of this. Who wants to be my partner?

Maybe I should auction myself for charity
I'm your original partner remember!! Although I can bet hands down LIzanne will out ride me in doing 150 laps. Just the thought of it sounds exhausting.Maybe I should auction myself for charity
Now that your single - we should auction you off to any single DHBC woman. We should make it a mixed maddison, or make the combinations 1 strong from the strong end, one from the weak end.

Unless the racing starts at 7pm, I won't be able to make the 3rd.

Nathan's Wedding is on the 10th & the Sydney Metro track champs, ruling out tmost people.i vote one for the 10th althought a late 3rd will be good.
how did christian steal Alex? and why am i the only B???
maybe i won't do any baking
That's just a guess at what I think will probably be best not definite, no one is really confirmed yet. But you'll have to negotiate with Alex. Christian is generally paired with John but I don't know if John will be riding or not.
Tim's suggestion was we have some B grade teams and it will be more fun. 50kms is a long way to race & based on what generally happens on Monday nights most people don't finish over a distance of 30kms, so the b race could be shorter as well, like the first 80 laps, assuming we can get people to ride.

It's ok lizanne, Christians donating his body. He's going to be a sex worker for charity in exchange for riding with me.

Hugo - reckon you could find a bright pink jersey?
... otherwise I also have a blue one (royal blue with a bit of white) or a light blue jersey with a bit of grey and yellow.

On consensus tonight, we have changed the start time of the madison to 5pm. I have also had people more express interest in riding, so we will run a not as fast points race for newer riders starting at 4pm.

I've got two tinkoff jerseys. They may be abit big but I'll bring down all the double jerseys I have.Hey Lizanne this doesn't mean you've gotten out of doing the
150 laps! Yep Simon 5pm is good for me too.
Matt - Im not sure what Tinkoff yellow is? I don't have any
yellow gear? At this stage an appropriate outfit is my only
problem
In true track sprinter style (with all the style I can muster up!) i will try to slack off and attempt as few of those 150 laps as my partner will allow. although i'm more than happy to kill my self to spew level in all the points sprints.
so Ian how's your endurance?

Wow! This is this Saturday right? I've had my head so far up my own **m that I've got no idea what's going on at the moment. But if anyone wants a really unfit partner with legs of jelly and a heart of cream puff that's ridden one Maddison in her life I'm your woman. I'm totally up for it! Failing that I'll just sit in the stands, drink beer, and cheer you all on. I may even pop down and toy with the lap board, just for funsies.

The other competitors were so fearful of the lizanne/chubb combination that they changed the start time in an effort to eliminate us. Sadly it worked.
Great racing this afternoon, with a nice close result between teams Bernard Beer and Jittery Joes, but well done to Matt and Patrick for their win!
Post race there was a bit of confusion as me and Tim thought we had won, and it wasn't until we later checked the recorded results for the sprints and added up the points that we discovered we were 1 point behind. I believe this was due to a very close sprint between Tim and Patrick which we thought Tim had won, but the results said otherwise. So, in the end the 1 point win we thought we had, became a 1 point loss...
