Hi All,

I was somehow talked into participating in the corporate games this weekend for the triathlon. It seems that anyone who rides to our work got cornered until signing the rego form :!: I dodged the swim and run legs so i'll be doing the team event (ride only).

If anyone else is doing it and wants to ride down, let me know. I'll be riding down sunday morning sometime before the waterfall groups.

Cheers

Simon

Simon, see its at Kurnell, not a bad piece of road.

I'm predicting a time of 22m30s + change over time, whatever that is, for yah

Good luck

Thanks Matt. Forgot to mention it's over at the far Kernell. I can't remember riding (or driving) down there, on the profile it looks pancake flat. Winds? Not sure. Punters? Plenty of them.

For the 15km i'm hoping for about 40km/hr which is spot on what Mike said.

Only additions to the road bike are the clip on bars and my brand new skin suit! No teardrop helmet or shoe covers yet. It will be a good hitout for Canberra though. Just hope the person doing the swim leg doesn't get out last (thus having to dodge through the crowds!)

If anyone is travelling down get in touch. I plan to leave with just enough time to ride, find the rest of the team and register before 7am. Perhaps leaving marrickville no later than 5:40am.

a helmet cover should do close to as much as an aero helmet if you are allowed to wear one

Thanks to Mike for supplying the helmet and shoe covers.

As for the event, with all the rain the transition areas were mud. So cyclocross skills were required before the ride and after it. Both myself and an NSCC rider were the only two sporting the TT gear (he also had a TT bike). Our swimmers were last and 4th last out of the water so that left us with a lot of time to make up and enough time for the commentator to take the p*** out of us! It also meant we had the road to ourselves as the time gap to the first groups was about 20mins.

My garmin lost satellite a couple of times (forgot the wheel magnet...) so i rode as hard as i could in those sections basing my speed on cadence and HR. The NSCC rider managed the quickest time of 23 mins for the 16.5kms (25.5mins incl transition), I managed a 24min ride (26.5min incl transition). The top triathletes managed between 28-32mins (including transition). Pretty happy with the result and happy how well the extra TT pieces performed!
