So as of this afternoon, N=0.
I don't though plan on going sans bike for long. My plan is to get something that offers perhaps a more comfy (endurance frames or sportive bikes appear to be the terms of the day) ride and more relaxed geometry.
From my reading of (mainly Bike Radar) reviews, I'm guessing a Giant Defy Advanced, Trek Domane, Cannondale Synapse and Specialized Roubaix will be on the short list. I also rode a Cell Akuna today and was a little underwhelmed to be honest.
Just wondering what other people would look at if they were looking at the moment based on a budget of 2K-ish?
So if you had around $2K to buy a bike you'd buy.....

So wanted to try a Trek Domane but don't want to deal with Clarence St Cyclery (where I've been underwhelmed with the customer experience ). Can anyone recommend a good Trek store (I see park bikes at Homebush deal in trek - they any good?)

Fraser Cycles at Taren Point? I only have limited dealings with them but they sell Trek.
I've dealt with Park Bikes at Homebush, one of the owners (Nash) used to work at Renegade where he was well regarded. At least if nothing else, you have a good place to test the bike at Homebush (but not right now).

Have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the Giant Defy Advanced. Smooth and fast, and great bang for buck. I've got a recent model in M/L size if you wanted to take one for a decent spin (CP with Sat Slowies?). 0407060850 if you would like to give it a berl.
Cheers, Rod.

Thanks for all the input, and the offer Rod.
n again = 1. I've ended up with a Focus Cayo. Rode a Synapse and a Domane but the Cayo won out. In the pure geometry stakes there are more Sportive flavoured bikes, but it handled brilliantly and still felt comfy. More on my blog here: http://backoffalls.blogspot.com.au/2014 ... steed.html
Impressed with Park Bikes and the Bicycle Garage in Lilyfield. Both offered great service
