Track Training
Track Training
It's not raining! so we will be back on the track this week.
For those who haven't tried track, we welcome new riders. We train 6.30-8.30pm every Monday and Wednesday night (although on Wednesdays the juniors are on the track until 7pm so we ask seniors to do their warm up on rollers/ chat / play with their chainrings until then). We have club track bikes for use on Tempe velodrome while you are getting started. All you need is a Cyling Australia silver or gold licence and and pedals, and please turn up early so we can help get you started. If you already ride road, this pdf download answers a lot of questions you might have. If it is your first time on the track And someone will give you some coaching about the track-specific skills needed.

Re: Track Training
Hi there,
I went down to the Tempe velodrome tonight at 6.30pm (Monday May 18) to give track riding a go for the first time, but there was no-one there.
Have I got my days/times/location mixed up?

Re: Track Training
Sorry that is my fault. John Caley told me he couldnt make it tonight and i thought i could but i got stuck picking my partner up from the airport. Normally colin would be there already running the juniors but i think the rain put an end to that.
Training will be back on again on wednesday.
Alex.

Re: Track Training
How are we looking for track training tonight (Monday, June 1)?
Re: Track Training
Thanks John, just wanted to double check after my last effort! I had fun last night, hopefully can make it down again soon

What about tonight?jcaley wrote:motor pacing on offer at track tonight
Do we think that it will be dry? Looks doubtful.
Re: Track Training
@jcaley Thanks for getting the bike out last night.
Out of interest, how does one get the skills/training/authorisation to ride the derny.

Cheers Noel. Actually Colin got the bike out ....For those that missed it, apart from pacing short efforts for the sprinters we also had a 30 lap motorpace finishing somwhere over 65 kmh. 2 kierans, a win-n-out, and 2 aussie crawls. Noel, Barrie Mclean at cycling NSW does the derny licence assessments. Best to do it with a couple others so you have riders to tow around.
Re: Track Training
Rollers tonight at tempe velodrome. There are hot showers for afterwards.

Re: Track Training
any idea if training will be on tonight? im keen to come down if we can get on the track
Re: Track Training
We'll be on the track if it is dry. There's enough wind to dry it out even if it rains between now and 7.jamesorton wrote:any idea if training will be on tonight? im keen to come down if we can get on the track
Re: Track Training
Not much rain but almost no chance the track will dry out even if the rain stops. So rollers/trainers. Bring a towel
Re: Track Training
RAW starts this friday and Track is ON tonight. No rest for the wicked.
Re: Track Training
Rollers/trainers session tonight.
Re: Track Training
No training at all tonight due to the wet track.
Re: Track Training
Track training is on tonight rain, hail or shine. That is, we'll have a trainers/rollers session if the track is wet. The track will dry quite quickly in this wind.
Re: Track Training
Hi, I'm keen to pop down tonight and try the track. Would tonight be suitable with the available coaches and training sessions going on etc?
Thanks, John
Thanks, John
Re: Track Training
Hi John,
sorry I missed your message. Last night we had two new riders. Next Wednesday should be good for coming to try the track.

Thanks John,
I'll lock it in - See you then. I didn't want to show up last night if you were busy/not expecting me.
Thanks, JH

Re: Track Training
Tonight (Mon) should be OK also. Its the night for the 120 lapper so not typical of a training night but if you come at 6 30 we will have time to learn the basics of track ettiquette and then you could ride laps.
Re: Track Training
Tonight we are running the first night of Twighlight track racing at Tempe. You will need a race licence to race. That means there will be no training.
Re: Track Training
Hey,
wanted to pop by to try the track on Wednesday (30th?) Would that work? I am an absolute newbie but I frequently ride a fixie
It s possible to rent a track bike there too, right?
Thanks,
Christine

Re: Track Training
Hi Christine,
yes we can find a club track bike for you to ride. Ideally bring shoes with cleats and your pedals but if not we have pedals with straps you can use in joggers. If you already ride a fixie, there's less of a learning curve. $10 on the night track fees and bring a Cycling Australia licence or show the email that you have got bought one. I'll be away this Wednesday, but Alex or Ben should be there to get you sorted. John
Alex will you be there?

Re: Track Training
Great, see you this evening, I'll be on my roadbike, so maybe I can swap the pedals over

Re: Track Training
Attention DHBC Trackies - there will be no training at Tempe tomorrow Monday Dec 12 as we'll all be a Hurstville Oval for round 2 of the Monday Twilight Track Series. To get there, it's a 10 minute (750 m) walk from Hurstville railway station. I have space for a few in my car if anyone wants a lift. More details on this thread and the facebook event
Re: Track Training
Boxing day track training is on!
Re: Track Training
How about tonight? I was very lonely on Monday.
Re: Track Training
This Monday the 9th we are racing at Hurstville Oval from 6pm https://m.facebook.com/events/1604651346508703/ So no training at Tempe on Monday 9th Jan
Re: Track Training
Training is back on track! Ok - terrible pun but there is lots of racing coming up so time to get into training. If you are new to track and/or need a club bike, please arrive as close to 6.30 as possible.
Re: Track Training
Hi All,
I saw a few posts on Facebook of some newbies giving track riding a go. Would I be able to come down on Monday 16 Jan to give it a shot? I have my Ride license, but would need to borrow a bike. I also have pedals but somewhat embarrassingly do not have the tools to remove them from my road bike (which I will be riding to the track). Will they be able to be fit to a track bike?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Track Training
Hi Justin
Yes you can come down. You will need to get there at 6:30 to get set up on a bike. There are some larger ones you can borrow, although we did deem 2 of them as needing repair. Unless it's raining in which case we can't ride on the track. There are pedal spanners at the track and you use the same pedals and they do fit.
I see over on this thread that there is a program for the evening. you should be able to get on the pace line if you get up and going.

Re: Track Training
DHBC trackies note that round 4 of the Twilight Track Series Racing replaces training tonight (Monday) at Tempe.
Re: Track Training
I saw an advertisement for some Keirin at Dunc Gray this Wednesday. Does this take the place of track training?
Re: Track Training
Get out ot dunc and race the Kierens if you possibly can. However, we will still run our training at Tempe.
Re: Track Training
Mon 13/2 there will be no track training at Tempe as we are all invited to the penultimate Twilight track racing night at Hurstville Oval. I hope to see lots of DHBC there.
Re: Track Training
Madison night tonight - we will train up anyone keen to learn at the start of the night and then you can join in holding hands...
Re: Track Training
Undercover trainer session tonight or is the track dry?
Re: Track Training
Track has almost dried from a brief 6.30 shower. There may be more later though ... so maybe some track for a bit or matbe the whole lot if we get lucky
Re: Track Training
We had a dry track for both of the senior sessions this week. You get lucky some times... Ben Lindsay and Lizanne also got the benefit of some motorpacing last night. This coming Monday 20/3 is the 120 lapper again. Hopefully the weather will be kind again.
Re: Track Training
Yes - unless there is a sudden heatwave, the track will be wet tonight 12 June. But depair not! A solid roller/trainers session tonight could be just what your legs ehart and lungs need. Bring a small towel to stop sweat dripping onto your headset bolt and a larger one if you want to shower afterwards.

The 3rd is a Wednesday - still Madison Monday??
Re: Track Training
Ah, I'm terrible with calendars. Actually, probably better not to. Wednesday the 3rd Jan will be a regular track session.
Re: Track Training
Just a reminder that this coming Monday 19 Feb is our monthly Monday Marathon 120 lapper. All are welcome and we can loan you a track bike. More info on the thread here
