Anyone have any suggestion as to where one can find a 31.6mm tube? It doesn't even have to be a proper seatpost. I just need something that would fit into the frame and act as a clamp point. Obviously cheaper the better. Thanks for any pointer.

Is this for the Ridley?

I assume you'll need a proper seatpost eventually, or do you have one in mind already?

Anyway, you can get a cheap one for $30 shipped on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3T-THE-Seatpost- ... dZViewItem There's probably a better value one, but i'd need to take a bit more time to look.

From what he told me, it's Campy sourced from Eurobikeparts.com, but i can't remember if he was going all the way to Record, or if he was going to be happy enough with Chorus.

Thanks for that eBay link. Strange I didn't find it last night when I looked. In any case, I already have all the components for the build but just need a safe way to mount the frame on my repair stand. I tried to clamp in a 31.4mm post I have but backed off in fear of cracking the CF seat tube. Maybe I can consider turning a 31.6mm post out of wood. I guess worse comes to worst, I'll make a shim for the 31.4mm post out of a Coke can.

Yes, it'll be Campag to maintain compatibility in the household. Also, I won't have to learn how to setup another brand of components.

Thanks Lindsay.

BTW, any suggestion as to an easy way to check out the facing of the BB? I am assuming that all modern frames have already been properly faced in the factory and need not be refaced. In the meantime I'll need to remove those clear lacquer from the sides of the BB.

I didn't bother with facing my frame, it looked good enough already. If i had the tools to do it i probably would have, but they're way too expensive, so they'll have to wait until i finished acquiring the essential tools.

If you feel the need to get the BB faced, i'm sure any bike shop would do it for a small fee.

Don't particularly feel the need but wanted to make sure there's no inherent problem that may reduce BB bearing's service life. I'll do another vernier measure after I've cleaned off all the lacquer and see. I am starting to think I am going to the nth degree...

My junk box is slowly getting bigger, but the 31.6mm seatposts won't be available until my next frame purchase. I've got 27.2 and a shim for 32.4, so 31.6 is the next logical step, then i'll have the three main standards.

Anyway, i'm trying to build up my tool kit at the moment. I like the Pedros Master Tool Kit, but not the price, so i'm going to put something similar together. Got a nice case for 99cents on ebay (plus $25 postage) the last ones went for $33 and $15, 2 and 4 days prior. I'll just need to make some modifications and then decide which tools are the first priorities.

Still trying to decide if I really need a torque wrench or not to install that UT bolt in the crankset. 42Nm... How do I gauge that? I guess I'll just have to stand on the end of a 50cm spanner.
