Cycling Australia provides a CycleSkill course which is specifically targeted at coaches who aim to assist novice cyclists in the areas of bicycle skills, road worthiness, the correct choice and fitting of cycling equipment and optimising bicycle set-up using existing equipment. The course duration is one day and is delivered by each State / Territory cycling federation, and requires a further 20 to 40 hours pre-study and workbook learning.

The Club feels with the growth of new members, its worth embedding basic coaching skills amongst existing members.

I'm pleased to announce the following members as CycleSkills Coaches.
  • Belinda K (existing)
    Lindsay M (existing)
    Christian L
    Geoff M
    Geoff S
    James F
    James M
    Joanne T
    Michael Cl
    Weiyun Y
edit: added Geoff S to the list :-)

I'm also delighted to announce that Christian L has volunteered to take a lead coaching role and will further scope out ways to maximise usage of these new and growing skills, and to organise the coaches further.

In the meantime, if you are a new or novice rider, please feel free to approach any of the above coaches if you have general questions as per some of the areas the coaches are now accredited in. Would coaches please also identify themselves within the bunches prior to any rides.

Coaches are encouraged to provide feedback during and after rides to bunch members in interests of learning, safety and skills, in line with the scope mentioned above.

We also have another four members who are working towards accreditation two of which have completed the practical course and should receive accreditation once workbooks are in. Hopefully, we can announce their names soon.

Congrats and thanks to the new coaches - this did consume considerable personal time to gain accreditation.
