I have no idea how 'fit' I am compared to others at the moment. I usually ride 3-4 times a week for around 2 to 3hrs...alone:( I would love to go for a ride with someone who knows the 'dead' roads.

Ok, I have decided I want to do the ride I did today instead of the hills ride for a bit, so won't be doing randwick ride. If you want, I can maybe take you out to the start of the ride if you like, it starts at 6 at centenial park. Are you interested? I think it ends close to 7 or 7:10 maybe a little bit later or earlier.

If you don't know how fit you are, best to ride with a group not as fast as Randwick. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.45am - BRAT group meet at Robertson Gates at Centenial Park, they usually ride around Maroubra / Randwick. There is a mixture of elite riders, but there is also Tony Golden's group which is a no drop ride. There is a mix of people that are just not fast enough for the elite group, or just want an easier ride - mixed in with some slower people. They always wait at the bottom of the hills and the faster people do more laps. It's a good option before you unleash yourself on a faster bunch - beats riding on your own. I usually try and make it to one of them once a week.

I've been wondering about a club hill climb challenge for a while and reckon Livingstone Avenue could be the way to go, seeing as it has little traffic.

I actually had a bit of a routine going in Marrickville which included going up the road beside Woolies, and then down to the Golf Course, and up the steep Livingstone Road, repeated about 5 times.

Livingstone Road is very, very, steep.

So steep, that when out of the saddle, and pushing hard down on the peddles (admittedly with 87kgs!), my chain snapped.

First place I hit was the top bar of the bike, narrowly missing a body part that would have ended my baby creation abilities, before crashing to the ground.

I want to start these reps up again one morning and happy to do it with someone, but will give Livingstone a miss, and go up one road further next to the Golf Course car park.
