Try looking at www.freewarehome.com. This is a website that I use when I'm looking for any freeware software and they usually post if the software is trusted or not. They have evrything on this site

Assuming this is for Windows? I have some free stuff that came with my camcorder - it's OK but not brilliant. See this link for a list of freeware

Also see this Wikipedia link - scroll to the bottom for free stuff

On Windows we use Adobe Premiere Elements 7 - but we bought it.

According to this site

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-fr ... editor.htm

Avidmux and VirtualDub are good options. I have used Avidemux at home, and from what I gather VirtualDub is pretty powerful, but it takes a bit of practice to use. There are a lot of guides around on how to use it.

If you do want to buy Adobe Premiere Elements, I can get it through work for about $123

Hey Jimmy, Stu and I just bought a mac so our previous software (elements) is useless. Elements is ok and easy to use, but I am looking for a Mac Product that is easy to use, but possibly offers a bit more than elements. Amy suggestions and pricing?

On the Mac, you really only want to consider 2 options. At the amateur/home levels, iMovie/iDVD from the iLife package. At the pro-amateur/pro levels, it's Final Cut Express or Final Cut Studio. Both are available from the Apple Store. I suggest that you drop in and try both out and see, but suspect iLife is the one to get and will be more than enough for your needs.

From what I have heard, the best video apps on a Mac are produced by Apple themselves. Here are the ones that I can get along with my buy price.

iLife - $103.26 - http://www.apple.com/au/ilife/
Final Cut Express - $214.72 - http://www.apple.com/au/finalcutexpress/
Final Cut Studio - $1,195.70 - http://www.apple.com/au/finalcutstudio/

iLife comes with several applications, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb and iDVD.

Either Amy or I can get these products at these prices.

We have iLife on the Mac already so have both iDVD and iMovie. Jo thought iMovie looked a bit simple but I haven't looked at iDVD yet.

Might need to look at Final Cut Express.

iDVD is for content preparation before burning to DVD/(BlueRay). All editing works are done in iMovie.

iMovie is pretty simple but if one takes the time to look at all the features, it's really not too bad at all. It's the GUI that makes it look simple and basic. I'd say it's more than sufficient for most amateur needs. Final Cut series of softwares are pro level and has a bit of a learning curve to master.
