Charity?
A health promotion charity in fact. If you like, I can bore you at considerable length on the general topic of charitable definitions and various legal challenges, and BV was one of those.

Simon/Toff - The Bicycle NSW Environmental Trust was established in 2003 to promote bicycle riding as an environmentally beneficial means of transport. It is a registered Charity and more information can be found here.

http://www.environmentaltrust.org.au/content/home

Some of the projects it funds/looking to fund (in full or as an invited contribution) include:
  • City West Link Study and Demand Assessment
    BSW Trust Video Competition
    Coastline Cycleways
The Greenway Project Submission to Transport NSW
2010 ARC LINKAGE three year study: "Safer cycling: a partnership project to better understand cycling patterns, hazards and incidents."
NSW Bike Plan Community Consultation Program development and delivery

I'm sure that Bicycle Victoria will take great learnings from the BNSW approach, and knowing how they are set up, will then surpass this and then share learnings back to BNSW down the track. Both organisations collaborate very closely, sharing information and know how to achieve a better goal of sustainable environmental benefits from cycling irrespective of which state we belong.

If anyone has any further questions on this charitable trust, and ideas of further use of funds, and ideas on how to accelorate donations, feel free to catch up with me at the coffee shop. I'm on the Management Committee of the Trust.
