I would like to take this opportunity to ask anyone who is considering nominating for a position on the Committee, to please do so by 5pm Wednesday 18th April via email to the secretary:
camilla.norman@sydney.edu.au
All nominations must be seconded, and accepted by the nominee.
The Committee roles are:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Road Captain
Track Captain
Public Officer
The Committee has spent the last year reviewing our governance, including drafting a new constitution. The old one dated back 25 years and desperately needed updating. We will put the new constitution to members for adoption. It is important that members have a view on how your club is governed. The new draft constitution is soon to be uploaded onto the website.
At the close of the AGM, we will have an open session for members to provide any feedback to the incoming committee and to tell us more about what you would like from the club, and indeed what you are able to give back.
The committee has the power to co-opt people into a range of roles that support the operation of the club. These include: webmaster, communications’ officer, juniors’ officer, women’s officer and potential member secretary and assistant treasurer. If any member would be prepared to assist the club with these roles, please email the secretary with an expression of interest.
Best wishes,
Camilla Norman
(Secretary)
On behalf of the DHBC Executive Committee
2012 DHBC AGM - Thur 26th April 8pm
We've had some problems uploading documents to the website but now it's finally done. You can see the Agenda and the draft Constitution now either on the front page of website http://www.dhbc.org.au or on the events page here http://www.dhbc.org.au/whats-on-/upcoming-events.html
All members, please take the time to review the constitution. It sets up the rules by which OUR club is run so it is important we get it right. We might never need it, but in my experience, the time you do need it is when things go wrong and by then it is too late.

May I suggest some changes to the Draft Constitution:
Section: Aims and Objectives:
Comment: There is no specific mention of the Club’s role in supporting juniors. They represent the future of the Club and this issue might be worthy of specific consideration. Such an inclusion may imply a preference to allocate member / Club's resources to subsidise / support juniors. Not everyone may be comfortable with this suggestion.
Paragraph J
Comment: The Motor Traffic Act (1909) was repealed some time ago.
Revised text:
To encourage members to learn and familiarise themselves with racing rules as may be determined from time to time by the Club, the New South Wales Cycling Federation Incorporated and the rules and regulations under the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act and other relevant motor and traffic safety legislation and regulations;
Change to Section 1. Definitions
(1) In this constitution:
Director-General means the Director-General of the Department of Finance and Services. [Note that the Department of Services, Technology and Administration no longer exists]

Thanks John - good pickups. We had a long list of inclusions in the Aims and then took them all out because it was getting a bit ridiculous. But definitely worth a discussion at the AGM.
I'm compiling various views and will have them at the AGM. We won't be issuing any revisions to this draft before the AGM.

May I suggest the election of the new office bearers take place before the discussion of the new constitution. The new president and committee will then be appointed and can act during the discussion as they will have to carry out the effects of the new constitution. Kevin Llewellyn
