15/10/2016 - DHBC Southern Alps Temple Tour
Posted: 05 Oct 2016, 10:10
Many people have text, tweeted, posted and even written in to the club asking; 'why aren't there more temples on our adventure rides!'
Well Paul Mayson and I have heard your call, and we have delivered. Can we present to you, the Southern Alps Temple Tour.
This will be a great final big hit out for those doing Fitz's Challenge or Three Peaks Cradle Mountain on October 30.
Beginning in Marrickville we take the usual RNP route (in at Audley) all the way through to Otford where we stop for breakfast.
After breakfast there are two options - do The Wall or go straight to the Bald Hill look out where we will regroup before descending down to The Gong, taking the beautiful Sea Cliff Bridge.
From there we will climb both Mt Keira and Mt Kembla. To break these two climbs up there is a stop at our first temple of the day, the Nan Tien Temple - you may have caught a glimpse of this place from the highway before.
We then head back to The Gong for lunch. * Some riders may wish to train it home from here*
Once our bellies are full we will continue back home, along the coast and up Bald Hill. Just near Helensburgh is the Sri Venkateswara Temple, we will stop there for water, photos and some Zen.
From here its on to Waterfall and then home!
