DH riders spotted = Alex R, Tim, Moi, Adrian, James M...

Conditions
Perfect. Nice day, NW breeze

D grade
Congratulations to Alex R on a punishing 1st place and Tim on 3rd place (C grade hello, next Tim)
It's all about the story...I'll leave that to Alex. But from about lap 3 Tim started attacking, with Alex and I also taking turns, we went hard, then slacked off as we wanted some helpers for work - a couple of takers only. 3 laps to go and Alex and I are off, Tim missed us. 2 laps to go and the somewhat bedraggled bunch caught us (bugger). 1 lap to go, bell, bang Alex goes again, he pulled away on the pimples and won by perhaps some 300 metres or more. Overall close to 35kph av.
I came 4th. It was our plan to come 1-2-3.

C grade
Congratulations to James M with 2nd place (via tactical racing)

C grade felt pretty slow today I wouldn't be surprised if D grade was quicker. There were really only 4 of us working at the front. I put in my fair share. On the last lap, I attacked early on the pimple when the front 6 or 7 riders sudderenly slowed. I thought I might surprise them. I didn't. James and everyone behind him stuck to my wheel. Was spent by the main straight and didn't even try to contest the sprint. James did well to get second and has been bumped to B grade for his efforts.

I feel like I should give some sort of report re the tactical racing I employed.

Lap by lap it went like this:

1. Last wheel
2. ditto
3. ditto
4. ditto
5. ditto
6. ditto
7. ditto
8. ditto
9. ditto
10. ditto
11. ditto
12. ditto
13. ditto
14. ditto
15. ditto
16. moved to second wheel behind Adrian as he attacked and then died ... sprinted and took second place.

Reinforcing that at Heffron its better to sit in tham attack / work ... just disapoointed I didn't really go for it and take 1st as that would make the progression to B grade worth while ... I can't really say worth the effort as it was a pretty relaxed race from where I sat and watched.

well we did plan - communication breakdown was that the attack was on lap three, like 3 laps to go, but others thought it was attack on lap 3, with 11 laps to go, it makes things interesting
