Cervelo Masters Series Rd 1 Grades - Eastern Creek.
Report:
I rode out to eastern creek dragway with Pia on Sunday. It was the first time she'd ever seen my race. I spent almost the entire race on the back of the bunch. For the first 60mins I told myself I could pull out of this at any time because I was sick with a cold. For the next 20 mins I told myself it was really ok to pull up because I was sick, but then I thought Pia was there watching me and I should at least pretend to be manly and hang on for another 10 mins and try to finish. I followed Craig's wheel towards the end of the race. There a few hairy moments with guys running into each other on the last lap, screeches of carbon brake pads, and one guy rolled a tubby on the final corner which left a smell of burnt rubber (ironically suitable considering we were racing on a dragway!). On the final lap, the bunch was strung out like a pelican turd. I managed to move up towards the front but was a long way behind the winners.
