Following from the member survey, the Executive has decided to have a series of regular events. They will be part information and part social. Hopefully we will have one every couple of months.
So far we have decided on two topics and dates:
* Sunday, 9 March at 3pm - Basic maintenance.
It will cover the basics that many new (& not so new) members might still feel a bit uncertain about such as: changing a tube, getting a chain back on when you you drop it, cleaning your chain ... It will be led by Alex and Christian and held at the Tempe velodrome. (For the social part, bring a plate)
We'll hold a more advanced maintenance one later too.
* May (date tbc) - So you want to race.
This will look at all the options and issues you might want to consider to get your racing career off to a good start - picking the right races, supporting new racers, the NRS team, women's racing .... We'll announce more details soon
I'm going to be coordinating the events and hope to get a program for the year up soon. I'd really welcome suggestions - topics and presenters. So pm or e-mail me.
So we get an idea of how many are coming to the first one, can you start the usual list (cut and paste previous names and add yours into your reply). Don't by shy to start it off!
Cheers
Adam
New regular club events - starting with 'basic maintenance'
1. Marc R. (interested a little more advanced maintenance and racing advice too)
changing tubes and cleaning chains I've got sorted but very keen to know how to adjust gears, change chains and re-grease a bottom bracket (mine loves to creak) So while I won't put my name down for this one I'll be there for the next.

2. AnthonyI + Luca. (Great idea - my son will find this very useful!)
3. Thanks for organising this. Jenny, Alison, Tess and Mia Wallace would all benefit from this training.

Maintenance 101 got our club events off to a great start. The dozen or more participants (all ages) was just the right number to let everyone stay engaged. A really big thanks to Alex and Christian for presenting it so clearly - and bringing down the wheels, bike and stand to make it all work.
