Friday LaPa

Appropriate for 28's paced, experienced riders.

Friday LaPa leaves The Square at 5:30am and Redfern Station around 5:45am. The ride offers a relatively flat fast ride starting slightly later than our other Friday ride.

We take a different route as we head directly towards La Perouse (LaPa) via Waterloo, Moore Park and straight down Anzac Parade. After a quick photo stop at LaPa it's straight onto Containers (sea wall), then a quick return via Anzac Parade and onto Surry Hills for coffee. From there it's off to work or back to the Inner West.

Although the ride is a relatively flat bunch ride, it is not suitable for the less experienced rider and may regularly reach speeds of up to 40km/h.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does 28’s paced experienced riders mean?

You are able to hold at a minimum 28km/h average pace and are an experienced bunch rider. Whilst we aim to not leave anyone behind, unless their ability is clearly not up to the ride, we still ride at a relatively fast pace. We will regroup if the bunch splits (e.g. at traffic lights).

What happens if its raining?

There will be no official announcement or cancellation for this ride. Instead, it is up to you as a rider to decide whether the conditions are appropriate for you. If you choose to ride in wet weather, you do so at your own risk. Remember to stay safe when it rains, keep your lights on and allow for more time to brake and stop.

How do I know if the Friday Lapa ride is for me?

The Friday LaPa route goes through busy traffic areas and suburban roads. You need to make sure you are comfortable riding at speed with cars around and can handle the traffic. It is important to respect your fellow riders and take care of the bunch. Whilst it is a no-drop ride, it is still overall a relatively fast ride, recommended for minimum 28’s paced experienced riders.

We recommend trying a similar ride on Saturday first with the 25’s LaPa. Whilst they do a slightly different route, it can help to become familiar with the area and start to understand the roads.
